Getting Started
BillingByScott is the operator console for running subscription billing across one or more apps. If you build and sell software, BillingByScott is where you define what you sell, who's subscribed, and what they owe.
You work here as the operator (the business doing the billing). The people who actually use your apps — your customers — appear in BillingByScott as client accounts with subscriptions.
The main areas are:
- Apps — register each app you bill for and manage its API key.
- Pricing catalog — define products, plans (levels), features, quotas, and settings.
- Coupons & referrals — discount codes and referral codes.
- Client accounts & subscriptions — your customers, their subscriptions, trials, and per-account overrides.
- Invoices & payments — generating and charging invoices, usage, and payment processing.
- Team & admin — your operator team and payment configuration.
Operator console vs. the customer's view
This app is the operator's side. Your customers don't manage their billing here — that self-service experience (choosing a plan, entering payment) is embedded directly into each of your apps via the BillingByScott client library. BillingByScott is the central brain; the client library is the storefront inside each app.
You need an account
BillingByScott requires signing in; there's nothing public. Your workspace is your account. Curious whether it fits your needs? See Is BillingByScott for you?.
